Why are they called flood lights? What is the point of flood lights? What are flood lights used for?
Flood lights do exactly as its name suggests, they flood an area with light. Flood lights are energy efficient and the best way to provide a large amount of light to an area that would otherwise be dark. Flood lights can be used for a variety of applications that need high light output and beam spread including landscape lighting, parking lots, and signage applications.
How many lumens do I need for a flood light?
The application will determine how many lumens are needed for a flood light. Additionally, the area that is being lighted will need to be considered as perhaps multiple high lumen fixtures will need to be installed to achieve the brighter light needed for that space. A parking lot, for example, would need multiple fixtures regardless; but the size of the parking lot should also be considered as a smaller parking lot may only need 4-6 flood lights versus a larger parking lot might need 20-30.
How do I install this flood light?
This flood light includes a trunnion and 1/2" knuckle to mount the fixture. Therefore, it can be either trunnion or knuckle mounted. Dimensions of this flood light with the 1/2" knuckle mount are 9.2" H x 7.4" W x 2.7" D. Dimensions with the trunnion mount are 8.1" H x 7.4" W x 2.6" D. Please note that this flood light ships with the photocell enabled. The photocell is located under the clear knockout and the CCT switch (to adjust the color temperature) is located under the bronze knockout.
